Family Nights

During various times of the year, HFX hosts special family night events, inviting all members of the families for a time of community experience.  See below for a description of what we do and the latest news on each.

Family Christmas Project

Christmas is a great time to celebrate and connect (or reconnect) with loved ones.  But Christmas time is also a time when help is most needed.  Amongst our celebrations at church and home, we challenge all our families to serve the needed in different projects.  Aside from the helping factor, these projects promote family love, communication and teamwork as all members work together.  Each year's project is announced in October/November so keep checking this page for updates!

Christmas 2009 Update

We had a great time together, watching the movie premier of the VeggieTales: Saint Nicholas, A Story of Joyful Giving, reviewing the story of Corrie Ten Boom and "True Love" and wrapping Christmas gifts for the mothers and children of the Kate Booth House.  Check out some of the gift wrapping photos below

Watoto Concert

Every other year, our church, Vancouver Chinese Pentecostal Church, hosts the Watoto Children's Choir from Uganda, Africa.  The Watoto village is home to many orphans due to AIDS-related problems.  These amazing, joyful children wows the audience in music, singing, dance, and testimonies.  The concert usually happens on a Friday night in January, appropriate for all ages and it's free! (A free-will offering may be taken for the Watoto village).  Check out below for photos and the next time the choir will be touring at VCPC.

Mess Hall Cook-Off

Our annual May/June tradition is a great time for families to come together and do something probably only half the family regularly do... cook!  This is a fun event for all ages to come and either join a team or form a family team to compete in cooking dishes containing the secret ingredient.  Nobody knows what it is until that night!  Points are awarded not just for good taste, but creativity, teamwork and presentation.  While the format may vary slightly each year, the fun-filled moments don't!  Check out the photos below and keep checking for the next event date.
